What is TMJ/TMD?

A temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder is a jaw disorder that occurs when the muscles and joints in your jaw don’t work together as they should. When certain joints in your jaw become damaged or misaligned, you may have TMJ disorder (TMD). If you have TMD, you may be experiencing:

Frequent headaches
Locking of the jaw
Pain in your ear and/or face
A clicking or popping of the jaw
Upper and lower back pain
Dizziness/lightheadedness
